About the HR Coordinator role

An HR Coordinator keeps the operational side of human resources moving. They schedule interviews, prepare onboarding paperwork, maintain employee records, answer first-line policy questions, and make sure every HR process, from a new hire's first day to an annual benefits enrollment, happens on time and without loose ends.

The scope changes with company size. In a small company, an HR Coordinator may be the only operational HR person, touching recruiting, payroll inputs, and benefits in the same week. In larger organizations, they usually support a specific team, such as talent acquisition or people operations, and own a narrower but higher-volume slice of work.

When writing your posting, be specific about the split between recruiting coordination and general HR administration, the systems the person will work in, and who they report to. Candidates for this role care about growth paths, so state whether the position can develop into an HR Specialist or Generalist role over time.
