About the Business Analyst role
A Business Analyst sits between business stakeholders and delivery teams, translating goals and problems into clear, testable requirements. They interview stakeholders, map processes, analyze data, and document what a system or process change must do. Good analysts prevent the most expensive failure in software projects: building the wrong thing well.
The role varies by context. In a software team, a Business Analyst writes user stories and acceptance criteria alongside a product owner. In operations or finance, the focus shifts to process improvement, reporting, and cost analysis. Some companies blend the role with product management or data analysis, so define where yours sits on that spectrum.
In your posting, specify the domain the analyst will work in, the delivery methodology your teams follow, and the tools in daily use, such as Jira, Confluence, SQL, or a BI platform. Also be clear about seniority: a junior analyst documents requirements handed to them, while a senior analyst shapes scope and challenges stakeholders on priorities.

Job brief
We are looking for a Business Analyst to bridge our business stakeholders and delivery teams. You will gather and document requirements, map current and future processes, analyze data to support decisions, and make sure what gets built actually solves the problem. To succeed in this role, you should combine sharp analytical thinking with the communication skills to align people who see the same problem differently. Ultimately, you will turn ambiguous business needs into clear requirements that teams can deliver against.
Responsibilities
- Elicit requirements from stakeholders through interviews, workshops, and document analysis
- Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
- Map current-state and future-state business processes and identify improvement opportunities
- Analyze data with SQL, Excel, or BI tools to quantify problems and validate assumptions
- Prioritize requirements with stakeholders and manage scope trade-offs
- Work with developers and QA daily to clarify requirements during delivery
- Support user acceptance testing and verify delivered work against acceptance criteria
- Document decisions, dependencies, and open questions so nothing lives only in meetings
- Prepare reports and presentations that make findings clear to non-technical audiences
- Track benefits after delivery to confirm the change achieved its intended outcome
Requirements and skills
- Proven work experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar analytical role
- Strong requirements-elicitation skills, including interviewing and workshop facilitation
- Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, or functional specifications
- Working knowledge of SQL or a BI tool for independent data analysis
- Familiarity with process-mapping techniques such as BPMN or simple flowcharting
- Experience working with Agile or hybrid delivery teams
- Excellent written communication and the ability to run effective meetings
- Sound judgment about scope, priorities, and when to escalate
- BSc in Business, Information Systems, Economics, or a related field
Nice to have
- CBAP, CCBA, or IIBA-level certification
- Experience in your specific industry, such as banking, insurance, or logistics
- Familiarity with prototyping or wireframing tools
- Exposure to product management or product owner responsibilities
