About the Business Intelligence Analyst role

A Business Intelligence Analyst turns company data into dashboards, reports, and insights that leadership actually uses. They gather reporting requirements from stakeholders, model data from warehouses and business systems, build self-service dashboards, and monitor the key metrics that show how the business is performing. Their work gives every department a shared, trustworthy picture of reality, replacing scattered spreadsheets and gut feelings with numbers people can act on.

The role goes deeper than reporting. A strong BI analyst designs data models that stay accurate as the business changes, standardizes metric definitions so every team works from the same numbers, and spots trends before they show up in quarterly reviews. In many companies, BI analysts also own the semantic layer, manage report access and governance, and train business users to answer their own questions with the tools available.

In your posting, name your BI platform and data warehouse, describe the departments the analyst will serve, and state whether the role leans toward hands-on dashboard development or strategic analysis for leadership. Candidates also want to know if there is a data engineering team behind them or if they will be building pipelines themselves, since that changes the job significantly.
