About the Account Manager role
An Account Manager owns the relationship between your company and a portfolio of clients. They act as the main point of contact after the sale closes, making sure clients get value, stay happy, and renew or expand their contracts. Great account managers combine commercial instinct with genuine care for the customer's success.
The role varies by business model. In agencies, account managers coordinate deliverables between clients and internal teams. In SaaS and B2B services, they focus on renewals, upsells, and adoption. In enterprise sales organizations, they may manage a handful of strategic accounts worth most of the revenue. Your posting should make clear which flavor of account management you are hiring for.
Clarify the portfolio size, revenue responsibility, and whether the role carries a quota. Candidates read these signals to judge seniority and fit, so being upfront saves both sides time.
