About the Cloud Engineer role
A Cloud Engineer designs, builds, and operates infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. They provision resources with infrastructure as code, automate deployments, and make sure the systems behind a company's products are secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
The role rewards automation instincts. A strong cloud engineer treats infrastructure as software: everything is version-controlled, changes go through review, and manual console work is the exception. They also carry real accountability for reliability and spend, since a misconfigured resource can cause an outage or a five-figure bill. Many cloud engineers work closely with developers, shaping CI/CD pipelines and paving the road for teams to ship safely.

Job brief
Join us as a Cloud Engineer and own the infrastructure our products run on. You will provision it as code, automate the paths teams use to deploy, keep the environment secure and observable, and hold us to a cloud bill we can explain line by line.
You will do well here if manual console work makes you uncomfortable, if you think about failure modes before they happen, and if you would rather build a road other teams can drive on than be the gate they queue at.
Responsibilities
- Design, provision, and maintain cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines that let teams deploy safely and often
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to keep systems observable and reliable
- Manage identity, access, and network security across cloud environments
- Monitor and optimize cloud spend, and eliminate waste in resource usage
- Automate repetitive operational tasks with scripts and tooling
- Plan and execute migrations, upgrades, and capacity changes with minimal disruption
- Respond to infrastructure incidents and run blameless postmortems
- Document architecture and runbooks so knowledge does not live in one head
Requirements and skills
- Has built and operated cloud infrastructure in production, as a cloud, platform, or DevOps engineer
- Deep in at least one major cloud rather than lightly across three
- Works in infrastructure as code, with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar
- Comfortable with containers and orchestration, Docker and Kubernetes included
- Sound on cloud networking: VPCs, DNS, load balancing, and firewall rules
- Scripts in Python, Bash, or Go well enough to automate the repetitive parts
- Has run monitoring and observability tooling in anger, not just installed it
- Applies cloud security and identity management as a habit
- A relevant degree, or the practical experience that replaced one
Nice to have
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid environments
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows and tools such as ArgoCD
- Experience leading a cloud migration from on-premises infrastructure
