Our engineering team ships to production every week, and we want each release to feel boring in the best way: predictable, tested, and safe. That gap is the reason this role exists. As our QA Engineer, you will own test strategy across the product, build and maintain automated suites for UI and API layers, and dig into new features with the kind of exploratory curiosity that surfaces problems a script would miss.
You will partner closely with developers from the first design discussion through the end of each sprint. If you enjoy breaking software on purpose, writing bug reports people thank you for, and turning repetitive checks into fast automation, we would like to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automated test suites covering both user interfaces and APIs
- Wire automated checks into CI/CD pipelines and keep runs quick and reliable
- Plan test coverage for upcoming features, turning requirements into structured, prioritized test scenarios
- Give early feedback on specs and designs, flagging testability gaps and risky assumptions before code is written
- Run hands-on exploratory sessions where human judgment beats scripted checks
- Verify fixes and re-run relevant suites ahead of each release so old defects stay closed
- Write defect reports with clear reproduction steps, evidence, and severity, then follow them through to resolution
- Pair with developers to reproduce tricky issues and eliminate whole categories of defects at the source
- Monitor and report on quality signals like escape rate, coverage, and defect density
- Manage test data and staging environments so the team can validate changes with confidence
- Keep improving the team's testing practices, tooling, and infrastructure over time
Requirements and skills
- Prior experience in a QA Engineer, Software Tester, or comparable quality role
- A solid grasp of testing techniques, from test case design and risk-based prioritization to defect lifecycle management
- Hands-on automation experience with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
- Comfort testing APIs, whether through Postman-style tools or code-based frameworks
- Ability to script or program in JavaScript, Python, or a comparable language
- Familiarity with iterative delivery: sprints, continuous integration, and frequent releases
- Sharp analytical mind and genuine curiosity for how things break
- Clear written communication for bug reports and test documentation
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Load and performance testing background with k6, JMeter, or similar tools
- Exposure to testing native or hybrid mobile applications
- ISTQB or a comparable testing certification
- A track record of building QA practices in a team that had none
