A Technical Writer turns complex technical information into documentation people can actually use. Requirements and skills
- Proven working experience as a Technical Writer, preferably for software products
- Outstanding written English with the ability to explain complex concepts simply and precisely
- A portfolio of documentation samples such as user guides, API docs, or knowledge base articles
- Ability to quickly learn technical products and workflows through hands-on exploration
- Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, Notion, MadCap Flare, or static site generators
- Familiarity with structuring content for findability, including information architecture and search
- Strong interviewing skills for extracting knowledge from subject matter experts
- Attention to detail in accuracy, formatting, and version control of content
Nice to have
- Experience with docs-as-code workflows using Markdown, Git, and CI pipelines
- Ability to read code samples in a language such as Python or JavaScript and document APIs from OpenAPI specs
- Experience with video tutorials, screen recording, or diagramming tools
- Background in localization or writing for global audiences
