About the Product Manager role
A Product Manager owns the direction of a product: understanding customer problems, deciding what to build next, and working with engineering and design to ship solutions that move business metrics. The PM sits at the intersection of users, business, and technology.
The role varies by company stage. At startups, product managers do everything from customer interviews to release notes. At larger companies, they own a specific area and spend more time on alignment and strategy. Your posting should describe your product, the team the PM will work with, and the outcomes they will own.
Strong product managers are evidence-driven and decisive. They talk to customers constantly, say no more often than yes, and communicate decisions clearly enough that teams move fast without second-guessing. Look for candidates who can explain not just what they shipped, but what impact it had.
