A Database Administrator, or DBA, keeps an organization's databases fast, available, and safe. - Manage high availability and replication setups, and lead failover exercises

- Plan and execute migrations and version upgrades with minimal downtime

Requirements and skills
- Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or database engineer
- Deep hands-on experience with at least one major platform such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle
- Strong SQL skills, including reading execution plans and tuning slow queries
- Experience designing and testing backup, recovery, and high availability configurations
- Working knowledge of database security, including access control and encryption
- Scripting ability in Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation
- Experience with monitoring tools and interpreting database performance metrics
- Calm, methodical approach to incidents involving critical data
- BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud database services such as Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, or Cloud SQL
- Platform certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft database credentials
- Exposure to NoSQL systems such as MongoDB or Redis
