About the Full Stack Developer role

A Full Stack Developer works across the whole application: user interfaces on the front end, APIs and business logic on the back end, and the databases underneath. They can take a feature from idea to production without waiting on another specialist, which makes them especially valuable in small, fast-moving teams.

Full stack does not mean equally deep everywhere. Most full stack developers lean toward one side and are competent on the other. Be honest in your posting about where the role's weight falls, which technologies you use on each layer, and how much DevOps the role includes.

Look for candidates who make sensible architecture decisions across layers and know when to keep things simple. The best full stack developers optimize for shipping working products, not for using every technology they know.

Job brief

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to build scalable software across our stack. You will design and develop features end to end, from database schemas and APIs to responsive user interfaces. To succeed in this role, you should be comfortable with both front-end and back-end technologies, understand how the layers fit together, and have a track record of shipping complete, working features.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build features end to end, across front end, back end, and database layers
  • Develop and maintain APIs and integrate third-party services
  • Build responsive, accessible user interfaces with a modern framework
  • Design database schemas and write efficient queries
  • Write clean, tested code across the stack and participate in code reviews
  • Debug and resolve issues wherever they occur in the application
  • Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot applications in production
  • Collaborate with product and design to scope features realistically
  • Improve architecture incrementally and manage technical debt deliberately
  • Document systems and share knowledge across the team

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of front-end technologies: JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and a framework such as React or Vue
  • Experience building back-end services with a language such as Node.js, Python, Java, or Go
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases and data modeling
  • Experience designing and consuming REST or GraphQL APIs
  • Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Understanding of security fundamentals across the stack
  • Great attention to detail and an ownership mindset from idea to production
  • Degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

  • Experience with our specific stack
  • Cloud platform and containerization experience such as AWS and Docker
  • CI/CD pipeline experience
  • Experience in a startup or small team where you owned features end to end
