Responsibilities
- Patrol the premises regularly on foot or by vehicle to deter and detect security issues
- Control access at entrances, gates, and reception, verifying credentials of employees, visitors, and vehicles
- Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and access control panels and respond to alerts
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies following post orders
- De-escalate conflicts verbally and involve law enforcement when required
- Write accurate incident, activity, and shift-handover reports
- Inspect doors, windows, gates, and lighting, and report hazards or malfunctions
- Assist with emergency evacuations, drills, and first-aid response
- Enforce site rules and safety policies with employees, visitors, and contractors
Requirements and skills
- Has worked in security, or comes from a military or law enforcement background
- Holds the security licence or registration required where this site operates
- Clears a background check and any screening the post requires
- Knows surveillance systems, access control, and how to report an incident properly
- Observant, and sound in judgment when something is developing
- Writes a clear report and communicates cleanly over the radio
- Fit enough to patrol, to stand for long periods, and to move quickly when needed
- Available for the posted shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays included
- A high school diploma or equivalent
Nice to have
- Current first aid, CPR, or AED certification
- Experience with our site type, such as warehouse, corporate, retail, or industrial security
- Training in de-escalation or crisis intervention
- Armed guard license and firearms qualification, if the post requires it
