We are hiring a Production Manager to run our floor and the numbers it produces. You will plan what gets made and when, keep lines staffed and running, hold output and quality against target, and make sure every shift is worked safely.
This suits somebody who is comfortable on the floor and in the data, decides quickly when a line is down, and builds supervisors who can hold the standard when you are not there.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage production schedules to meet demand, capacity, and delivery commitments
- Supervise shift supervisors and operators, and organize staffing across shifts
- Monitor output, scrap, downtime, and OEE, and act on deviations quickly
- Enforce quality standards and work with QA to resolve defects and customer complaints
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on the floor
- Coordinate with maintenance on preventive schedules and rapid breakdown response
- Manage material availability with planning and warehouse teams to avoid line stoppages
- Control production costs, including labor, materials, waste, and overtime
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, SMED, and root cause problem solving
- Recruit, train, and develop production staff and build a capable bench of team leads
- Report production performance and improvement plans to plant or operations leadership
Requirements and skills
- Has led production, as a manager or supervisor in a comparable operation
- Deep on production planning, quality control, and how the process actually behaves
- Has managed teams across shifts, including hiring and performance conversations
- Knows the health and safety obligations of a manufacturing environment
- Comfortable with production metrics, dashboards, and finding a root cause
- Has planned and reported through an MRP or ERP system
- Decides and communicates clearly under time pressure, on the floor and upward
- An engineering or manufacturing degree, or the plant experience that replaced one
Nice to have
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification with applied project results
- Experience in your specific industry, such as food, automotive, or electronics
- Familiarity with automation, MES systems, or Industry 4.0 initiatives
- Formal safety qualification such as NEBOSH or an equivalent national certificate
