About the Marketing Specialist role
A Marketing Specialist plans and executes marketing campaigns across channels such as email, social media, paid ads, and events. Sitting between strategy and hands-on execution, they turn the marketing plan into live campaigns, track how those campaigns perform, and feed the results back into the next round of planning.
The scope depends heavily on team size. In a small company, a Marketing Specialist is often a generalist who touches everything from landing pages to trade show logistics. In a larger organization, the role usually specializes in one area such as demand generation, product marketing support, or regional campaigns, working under a Marketing Manager.
When writing your posting, be explicit about which channels the specialist will own and which they will only support. Candidates with three years of paid ads experience and candidates with three years of event marketing both call themselves Marketing Specialists, and a vague posting will attract both while satisfying neither.
